the best in the 19 th Germany-wide competition for the

Großer Preis des Mittelstandes 2013

from Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg

Vorpommern, Saxony und Saxony-Anhalt -

received their awards at a gala at the

Hotel Maritim in Dresden on 7 September.


The event was attended by Sven Morlok, Deputy Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony; Ralf Christoffers, Minister for Business and Europe of the State of Brandenburg; Hartmut Möhring, Science and Business Minister of the State of Saxony-Anhalt; Katrin Budde, former minister and party leader in the Saxony-Anhalt regional parliament, and over 400 guests. Seventeen businesses were presented with “finalist” awards and 12 with the statuette for the top prize itself. One local authority also received an award for being the most business-friendly institution in its region.

In 2013, over 1400 institutions across Germany from all 16 federal states, a total of 4035 small and medium-sized enterprises and a number of banks and local authorities had been nominated for the awards. This was a significant increase compared to 2012 and a new record in the 19-year history of the competition.
