GOLD "PREIS DER BESTEN" AWARD FOR GREIFEN-FLEISCH

Awards ceremony at the DLG-Lebensmitteltage food conference in Darmstadt; quality certificate for a sustainable quality policy

(DLG). A great success for Greifen-Fleisch GmbH from Greifswald: the company has received the Preis der Besten” gold award from the Food Test Centre of the DLG (German Agricultural Society). This certificate of quality is testimony to the company’s continuing excellence in production and sustainability. The awards ceremony was held at the 6th DLG-Lebensmitteltage food conference in Darmstadt, a major event for the German food industry attended by around 500 participants.

As he presented the certificate, the DLG Vice-President Prof. Dr. Achim Stiebing commended the award-winning company for its sustainable quality objectives, calling these as ambitious and challenging as the award itself. “You belong amongst the best, for you see food as something important and special. Your structured and strategic quality awareness and policy, as recognised by our independent experts, inspires and creates a basis of trust on which you can build.”

The “Preis der Besten” is only awarded to businesses that have continuously achieved excellent results in the International DLG Quality Test for Ham & Sausage. To receive the gold “Preis der Besten” award, a company must have proven its consistently high quality standards with annual DLG quality test awards for at least fifteen years. Companies who have achieved excellent DLG results for ten years receive the “Preis der Besten” silver award; the bronze award is for at least five years. This year, the “Preis der Besten” was awarded to 288 leading businesses in the meat sector.

NEW STAND OPENS IN STRELAPARK RETAIL PARK

Greifen-Fleisch opened a food stand in Strelapark retail park in Stralsund on 01 September 2011. On the menu are fine and chunky meat loaf and Greifswalder bockwurst, Wiener würstchen and knacker sausages.

The Minister-President Erwin Sellering visited our company at the launch of the “Thementag Demografie” day focussing on demographics on 24 January 2011. Our Director Walter Kienast and the team showed Mr Sellering how reorganising production processes can ease the employee.


GREIFEN-FLEISCH AND CLIMATE PROTECTION

Greifen-Fleisch GmbH also takes its corporate ecological responsibility very seriously on the issues of climate protection and sustainability.
Our responsible use of recyclable packaging in 2011 meant that we saved the environment 8944kg of greenhouse gas. That is equal to the average CO2 emissions of a car for 59,107 kilometres travelled.
